I've recently taken to finishing up the various notebooks strewn about the home which have incomplete pages. For half a decade, I had the habit of starting on books/journals, getting 1/3-1/2 way through, and then forgetting about them.
I am currently using a notebook to chronicle my dreams. I previously used it throughout 2011-2014 to write trip logs, brainstorming ideas, and to-do lists. While re-reading some past pages, I found to-do list I'd written in 2012 while pondering and planning the future.
Here it is, as a window into my past and the year 2012:
"Steps (not ordered) of what to do
- Start a website professionally
- Speak to youth leadership
- Write for personal + professional (1 single) blog
- Remind clients why (1 reason for us, 10 for them)
- Print business cards "What makes you happy?"
- > Pay it backwards
- Interview people on what fulfills them and makes them happy
- Get a smart phone w/ data
- Fulfillment consulting - external review & change model
- > what's important?
- Local event - community event - campus event
- Participate @ Ideas@0$
- Web presence:
- Facebook Fan Page
- Twitter handle
- Start Tumblr
- Website: joshuationg.com"
While some of this doesn't make sense to me anymore, I can appreciate the sentiment from when it was being written.
Reading this today, in 2017, I am quite surprised by how many of these items I have actually completed. The two items that didn't end up happening were "Participating @ Ideas@0$" and "Start Tumblr".
I also find it hilarious that getting a smart phone with a data plan was on this list! Yes, hahaha, I now remember how amazing it was to move from scouring for free WiFi to getting data :)
Fun share, random post :)
